Comments
Newsreader.com has improved since they were last reviewed. Binary retention has lowered but completion has increased dramatically. Text retention has gone up nicely. With 3 days retention they are not the top provider in the usenet world, but they would work excellently alongside your ISP's news service for incompletes. They also keep incompletes so you can combine them with incompletes from other servers for even better completion.
Headers do not count towards your download limit with Newsreader. Many other providers include header downloads towards your limit which effectively lowers the downloads you actually can get within the limits specified.
Since our last review Newsreader.com has done some upgrades and changed the way they define retention. We had offered them some suggestions and they have implimented them, whether due to our comment or just a general change we do not know. Their peering has also improved as well.
If retention was increased to at least 5 days I would have given Newsreader a 9 out of 10 on the review. However they have improved their service and I am pleased with them.
